Hi all,

Sorry i haven't been on here for a while, i changed my phone recently so i check my email via that so not on my laptop much.

After not being to good my MTX was upped to 17.5, and had a steriod injection in my bum as the tablet form hadn't worked. Since then i have been doing pretty well! Pain levels are lower so able to take less painkillers, and not as tired either. I've also started Hydotherapy, Tai Chi and swimming. I'm also getting help to work through access to work who provide nearly all the cost of getting a taxi there. So pleased i was accepted as public transport was getting more difficult. I've also purchased a 'mini kettle', so i can get my own cups of tea and hot water bottles rather than bugging my man!

Hope everyone is doing ok

Jen

Hi Jen
It's good to hear that things are looking better for you. I'd love to feel less tired like you. it can take ages to get drug combinations just right so I'm trying to be patient. Like you I get help with the cost of taxis to work. This really helps me a lot. There's no way I could walk the 3 miles each way like I used to.

Yeah the taxi's are a big help. I used to have to get 2 buses then walk 20 minutes. I could never get a seat, and really struggled to hold on! Its amazing how much its made a difference to my day by having far much more energy. Its certainly nice not being as tired, i hope you get there soon too!

Hi Jen - so pleased to hear you're getting along better and using taxis must make it far less stressful! But on your comment about public transport and not getting a seat - that's a real shame - other people are so inconsiderate, but maybe they didn't realise that you needed a seat more than them! The big disadvantge of RA is that we LOOK so well - that's another reason why I used my hiking poles so much - it gives out a big signal that I'm not as stable on my feet and do need to sit down more and sometimes I even asked people to let me have their seat (usually teenagers who are totally blind to everyone around them and unbelievably selfish!!!!)

Anyway - glad that you're postng again and feeling better - Sylvia xx

I find that its the young people, who appear very healthy, who use up he seas which are meant to be for disabilities, pregnant women etc They then pretend they can't see you, or even, once I asked a teenage boy of around 13 if I could please have his seat, he said "no, I've got a bad leg" and refused to move, he just sat there and laughed. At least when we had conductors on buses they would have made him move or get off the bus Mad

Hi Barbara - that's so upsetting. I bet you were seething! I used to work in a school as a maths assistant so I was teaching 13 year olds - yuch!!!! All I can say is that the vast majority do grow up and become much nicer human beings - I tried to ignore the few nasties and now focus on being around kinder people, but eventually I left that school with a much more resigned attitude to teens generally (hence I'm now working at a university where the students are slightly more mature!!!) .
